Jocelyn confirmed DSSCF’s nomination for Green Ribbon Awards had been submitted, but not yet acknowledged.

Submissions to the DCC’s Long Term Council Community Plan due now!

Please get these in by TOMORROW EVENING (Tuesday April 14) as submissions are due at 5pm on Wednesday April 15.

Another way of feeding your ideas to a wider community is to contribute via the Transition Towns website. To ensure that our concerns around sustainability our listened to, it is vital that there are a large number of individual submissions supporting action. Cr Teresa Stevenson has recommended concise, action-based submissions as being most effective. She also advises that submissions will be given more attention if the ask for the Council to “investigate” or “report on” an idea or project, rather than demanding it outright. A group of us have put together a list of ideas that SDC members might be interested in at http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz/node/1582.

Please have a look, see if there are ideas that you might like to adapt or personalise, and post any others that you have. Remember, we can’t complain about Council inaction unless we have our say!

Annual subscriptions are now due . . . the good news is that the subscription still remains at $10 for the year and you can pay online to make it easier. Please find attached a brief report which explains everything that your $10 made possible in the 2008/2009 year. The 2009 / 2010 year looks like it

GreenDrinks, Thursday 30 April, 5.30pm at Filadelfios at the Gardens

This is an opportunity to meet other likeminded people in a relaxed setting. GreenDrinks is held on the last Thursday of each month from 5.30pm. Please note VENUE CHANGE. All interested in sustainability and the environment welcome. Please bring a friend.
